ANALOGIES IN THE HOLY QURAN
Any analogies are mentioned in the Holy Quran, and these Qur’anic analogies are only understood by those with knowledge. An analogy means drawing a similarity between two objects in effect, approximating the intelligible to the perceivable or one tangible object to another, and considering one of them through the other.
One example is what Allah (the Almighty) said about the fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see.) (Deaf, dumb and blind – so they will not return [to the right path].}
{Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps …} until His saying t… Indeed; Allah is over all things competent.} [2:17-20].
Therefore, He set for hypocrites, based on their state, two examples: one of fire and the other of water, because of the fire and water content of illumination, brightness, and life; fire is the essence of light, and water is the essence of life.
Allah (the Almighty) put into the revelation that is sent down from heavens life and illumination for the hearts, which is why He called it ‘an inspiration and a light’ and made those who accept it alive in the light and those who reject it dead in the darkness.
He informed about the hypocrites concerning their share of the revelation that they are like someone who lit a fire to illuminate around him and benefit him, and that is because they entered Islam, and were therefore enlightened, benefitted by it, believed in it and
