Simply put, in order to rule according to what Allah (?) has revealed, we must deem (both in belief and in deed) forbidden that which Allah (?) prohibited, and we must deem lawful that which Allah (‘:m) has made lawful.

To do that, we must of course know what is lawful and what is prohibited. And we must seek judgement with Allah (?) in all matters – Prayer, fasting, Zaktu, and Hajj; marriage banquets and funerals; the way we dress; our food and drink; the affairs of the individual, the family, the society, and the Nation; business matters; the affairs of peace and war; in short, we must seek judgement with Allah in all of the affairs of our life.

And let us confidently assert that a person does not really rule according to what Allah (?) has revealed if:

He ostensibly proclaims the need to establish Islamic law as a system and way of life, yet he demands a disproportionately large sum of money for his daughter’s dowry, claiming that he wants to guarantee her future financial independence.

• He invites others to establish Islamic law as a system and way of life, yet he submits himself to those customs and traditions of his society – especially for happy occasions – that are contrary to the teachings of Islam.
• He propagates the necessity of establishing Islamic law as a system and way of life, yet when it comes to matters that pertain to funerals, he follows not the guidance of the Prophet (?), but the customs he inherited from his parents and grandparents.
• He calls upon others to establish Islamic law as a system and way of life, yet he acts contrary to the guidance of the Prophet (?) in his worship, his deportment, and his dealings.

Allah (?) said:

The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him; that is the (true) straight Religion, but most men know not. ((Qur’an 12: 40))
