I ask Allah Mighty and Majestic to make this work purely for His sake and to reward out of His generosity those who have taught me, those who have helped in editing and producing this work, and those who read it.

May Allah increase the love, mercy and understanding between each Muslim husband and wife, and bless each Muslim with an increase of the love of Allah and His Messenger, Allah bless him and give him peace, in this world and the next. May Allah Most Generous honor us with obedience and may we not disgrace ourselves with disobedience. Ameen.

Praise to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. If I have been successful in this work, it is from Allah’s generosity; and if I have made mistakes, it is because of my weakness and lack of knowledge. I ask Allah Most Benevolent to guide and protect me for He takes the hand of those who rely on Him. This edition has been revised with some new additions as well as a few corrections. I have found while teaching this text that most readers breeze through and enjoy it without earnestly contemplating the subject matter. It is important to remember while reading this book that each point re- quires careful and deliberate reflection so as to fully understand its significance. It is essential that you ponder upon and then apply that which is personally relevant to you.
