A complete and definitive investigation of the issue indicates that modern western civilization as has been mentioned encompasses aspects of both benefit and harm.

As for the that which is of benefit, it is by way of material development, and its preeminence in every such area of technical development is more apparent than my having to elucidate it, and what it encompasses of potential usefulness to humanity is greater than what can be covered in a limited description.

Their service to humanity from the direction of approaching him as a living animal has been tremendous.

But as for that which is harmful is its comprehensive negligence and disregard of that aspect of human life which is the head of every good, without which there cannot truly be any benefit and good in the world of this life without its presence- the spiritual cultivation of humanity and its moral education.

 This cannot be achieved except through the light of heavenly revelation which clarifies for humanity the path of contentment and lays out a wise plan and structure for every area of human life in this world and the next world, so connecting them to their Lord at every moment.

 Therefore modern western civilization abounds with benefits in the first aspect or area while being tremendously deficient and nearly bankrupt in the second aspect or area.

 Additionally, it is acknowledged and well known that the domination of materialism over the concern for spiritual wellbeing has ruined much of the world, as is witnessed in the numerous dangers and decimating forms of social ruin which have suddenly collected around us.

Yet the desired goal of freeing ourselves from these dilemmas will never be possible unless humanity is illuminated by the guiding light of heavenly revelation which has been legislated by the Creator of both the heavens and the earth!

 Because the one whose material existence completely rules and commands such that he rebels against the One who created him and sustains him – will never be successful. Therefore the correct division of the possible positions one might take in
