Selections on the Principles of the Stations in the Science of Sufism Edited and translated by Th. Emil Homerin
SELECTIONS ON THE PRINCIPLES OF THE STATIONS IN THE SCIENCE OF SUFISM
Selections refer to her quotations that form the basis of this book, drawn from the Quran, hadith collections, Quranic commentaries, spiritual guidebooks, hagiographies, and mystical epistles by earlier Sufi masters, including al-Kalabadhi (+995), al-Sulami (+1021), and especially, al-Qushayri (+1074).
Aishah also quotes Sufi authorities Ibn al-Arif (+1141), Umar al-Suhrawardi (+1234), and Ibn Ata Allah al-Iskandar (+1309). Aishah al-Bauniyyah was born in Damascus in the second half of the fifteenth century. She came from a long line of religious scholars and poets, originally from the small village of Baun in southern Syria.
As part of her education, Aishah studied Sufism, which was the general practice of the Bauni family which belonged to the Qadiri order.
