About the Thesis
All praise and thanks are to Allah, the Sustainer and the Compassionate. It is His benevolence and bounties which made me capable to submit this thesis. Throughout the entire undertaking of this Ph.D. program me I have become greatly indebted to a large number of persons.
The very inspiration to embark upon this programme, came from my supervisor, Prof. Syed Muhammad Yunus Gilani, Head, Department of Islamic Studies, University of Kashmir, I have great pleasure in expressing m y profound sense of gratitude to him without whose encouragement and guidance I could not even think to complete my thesis in Jail.
In spite of his busy schedule, he spared some of his precious time for me and on the request of Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, used to see me in Jail fortnightly to guide and supervise my Ph.D. program me.
Soon after I joined Department of Islamic Studies as a regular Ph.D. scholar I was arrested and sentenced for life by apex court in a case I had been earlier acquitted by TAD A Court a t J am m u, solely on the basis o f s o-called confessional statement.
