SYMBOLS OF ISLAM
Some journalists use surprising quotations that are supposedly taken from the Koran, the Holy Scripture of the Muslims. Some versions of the Koran, translated by non-Muslims, are not accurate or precise.
They can have an intimidating effect rather than an inviting one on even the most open-minded readers.
This is especially true for female readers. The antiquated version by Max Henning, for example, translates the fourth Surah of the Koran in a way that is not at all flattering towards women.
At several points, the impression is that Paradise is only for men. Unfortunately, translations leave conclusions to the preconceived ideas of the translators.
Thus, objective insight into Islam is difficult to find. Meanwhile, the gaps and chasms between religions are not as deep as they might appear to some of us. For Muslims, for example, Jesus is not the Son of God, but rather one of the prophets, the son of the Virgin Mary, and the Messiah to Islamic revelation and transmission
