Introduction – DUTIFULNESS TO PARENTS
All praise is due to Allah (). We thank Him, seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge with Allah from the evils of ourselves and our bad deeds. Whosoever has been guided by Allah, none can misguide him. And whosoever has been misguided by Allah, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no true deity but Allah, being Alone without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad (ffi) ‘Blessings and Peace be upon him,’ is His slave and Messenger.
Allah () says:
O’ you who believe! Fear Allah [by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden] as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to. Him, and remember Him always], and die not except as Muslims [ with complete submission to Allah]. ((Qur ‘an 3: 102))
Verily, the best speech is that of the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the Prophet’s guidance, and the worst (most evil) of things are the innovations in religion, and every innovation is an act of misguidance.
I performed the Friday prayer on Rabi’ al-Awwal 161\ (the third month of the Hijrah Calendar/ 1403 A.H. in Sala ad-Din mosque in Amman, Jordan. The Khatib (the one who delivers the sennon) was my brother and tutor Abu Malik, Muhammad Ibrahim Shaqrah, ‘may Allah bless him,’ and make his works of great benefit to others. His sennon reminded those praying in the mosque of the necessity of precisely following the orders of Allah’s Book, the Qur’an and His Messenger’s Sunnah.
