The Ideal Muslim – The true Islamic personality as defined in the Qur’an and Sunnah by Dr. Muhammad Ali al-Hashimi الدكتور محمد علي الهاشمي Translated by Nasiruddin al-Khattab

THE IDEAL MUSLIM – THE TRUE ISLAMIC PERSONALITY AS DEFINED IN THE QUR’AN AND SUNNAH – شخصية المسلم

The Ideal Muslim book – The True Islamic Personality as Defined by the Qur’an and Sunnah gives a detailed account of how the Prophet (SAAS) and his Companions lived.

This illustration of the practical characteristics of a genuinely Islamic way of life serves as a timely lesson for us all.

When un Islamic and anti-Islamic influences permeate through contemporary technology to the heartlands of Islam and even to the most remote locations, we must maintain the distinctive character of our faith as mandated by Allah and revealed through His Prophet (SAAS).

Dr. Muhammad Ali al-Hashimi provides an in-depth look at the Islamic way of life.

He begins with the Muslim’s relationship with his Lord, the most critical component of his life,

Dr. Hashimi then explains how a Muslim should relate to every individual in his life, beginning with himself and his family and progressing through the stages to include every member of the community or society.

Each point is backed up with comprehensive Quran and Hadith quotes. While most Islamic teachings – and indeed the significant ideas and practices (pillars) – apply equally to men and women, some components of the faith are emphasized more for one gender than the other, or may apply to only one of the sexes.

The dress code is a clear example, emphasizing women’s apparel. However, it should be remembered that males are also expected to dress modestly and that many prohibitions are only applicable to them (i.e., the wearing of gold and silk).

Many of these “gender-specific” issues are addressed in this book, but it should not be considered exclusive: both men and women can benefit from it. Unless otherwise stated, the interpretations of Qur’anic quotations are taken from Yusuf Ali’s translation.

The archaic manner of Yusuf Ali’s translation has been updated and modernized here, with “thou” replaced by “you,” “goeth” replaced by “goes,” and so on. Many Islamic principles are challenging to describe in English, mainly because words have a lot of cultural baggage.

This is especially true of “religious” words, which may have meanings in English that do not exist in Arabic.

As a result, many Arabic words have been kept, with explanations provided at the end of the book.

May Allah honor the author for his efforts to teach Muslims about their religion; may He make this book a source of good guidance; and may He guide and maintain us on the Straight Path. Nasiruddin al-Khattab (Nasiruddin al-Khattab)
